Bell Schedule, Arrival & Dismissal Safety

Arrival

Students are allowed through the campus gates beginning at 8:00 am with staff supervision. Please do not drop students off before this time, as there is no supervision.  Students are expected to leave campus directly following the dismissal bell.  For their own safety, students should wait in front of the school for rides and not on the playground. Students on different dismissal schedules may not wait for siblings unattended. 

An 8:00 am entry bell will ring and students may walk on campus. Adults must say goodbye at the gates and may not walk students to classrooms. 

There are six entry gates: 

• TK/Kindergarten (at the TK/K playground)
• Grades 1 (by the flagpole)
• Grades 2, 3 (to the left of the front office building)
• Grades 4, 5, all SDC & ESP (by the portables)
• Front Office
• Back Gate (off of Anchorage)

Students may walk around the perimeter of their respective playgrounds, but all playground structures are off-limits before school.  Or, parents can sign-up their student for the PTA sponsored 100 Mile Club until the 8:15 am bell rings.  All students must be at their lineup spot by 8:15 am.  

School starts daily at 8:15 am.  Any student arriving after 8:15 am will be marked TARDY. All late arrivals after 8:15 am must be checked in at the office.

Dismissal
Students TK through 2nd grade will be walked out to their designated gates and will be dismissed by the teacher at 2:00 pm. 3rd through 5th grade students will be dismissed at 2:35 pm and will exit through their designated gates. (All Thursdays are modified days and dismissal is at 12:50 pm for the entire school.)

Students are to be picked up from school ON TIME each day. Students who are picked up late will need to be signed out and from the office. 

Arrival / Dismissal Safety
TK-2nd grade families waiting for upper-grade kids to get dismissed may wait quietly on the sidewalk or at the Newland park, as upper grade classes are still in session.

Parents who drop-off or pick-up students at the gates should park on the street and walk students on/off campus. It is recommended that all TK/Kindergarteners, and any students who are not yet able to exit a vehicle on their own, be walked to and/or from their designated gates. To ensure student safety, please read and follow the rules listed below: 

• Students must cross streets at CROSSWALKS only.  Students should not be encouraged by adults to run across the middle of the streets.  
• Students must exit cars on the side of the curb.
• Cars should not be parked at red curbs, double parked, or parked in bus lanes.
• Students must refrain from cutting through the parking lot. 
• It is acceptable for upper grade parents to create a meeting spot off campus to meet their students upon dismissal.
