All about me!

My name is Amanda Kitahara and I am a member of the 4th grade team at Newland Elementary School. I have been at Newland for 11 years, 10 of the in 4th grade. I believe in a classroom that creates a fun learning environment, while holding the students to a high standard both academically and behaviorally. Working closely with Mrs. Costigan, we have created a program that allows us to focus on our strength and in turn provide the students with a more robust instruction. My focus in the classroom has been to create a writing program that encourages independence, risk taking, and support for writers’ to learn their craft. Outside of school, I keep myself busy with two young boys and husband.
